Blackberry 8520 Software Update: Version 4.6.1.296

The little-giant Blackberry 8520 just got better! Well, the 8520 is really stable as it is right now unlike other BBs (ahem…Storm) but a software update could not harm, and theoretically it would make the BB 8520 even better as it is right now. And although the detailed change log is still unknown, it is advised to install and keep our devices updated.

To install the new 4.6.1.296 for the Blackberry 8520 you will need the Blackberry Desktop Software and 45 minutes of your time, happy updating! Below are the links to download the firmware:

The Blackberry Storm is a wonderful device to play games, the big 3.2 touch screen is just amazing plus the accelerometer that puts even more fun to any game! I found a really cool game for the Blackberry Storm, it is a motion based game that uses the internal accelerometer of the Blackberry Storm as the interface it is called Maze and it is completely amazing and ready for you to download! The objective of Maze is to drive the ball by tilting your Blackberry Storm and guide the ball through the wooden labyrinths towards the finish hole, there are several traps on the way and let me tell you, it is not easy to win this game but it is lots of fun. The best part is that you have to tilt and move the Storm just like if it was a table so the ball rolls accordingly, the game is very fun and the accelerometer just makes it better. The internet browser pre-loaded on Blackberry devices is really well designed, but there are some pages that dont load correctly or some stuff that does not show. That is why it is a good idea to have more options than only the pre-installed browser, that way we have plan B when something does not work! Here is a very complete and neat web internet browser for blackberry storm, bold and curve 8900. This web browser called ”Bolt” is compatible with all 3 Bold, Storm and Curve Blackberry devices and can be downloaded for free.

I gave it a try and I have to say that this web browser is faster than the standard web browser built into the Blackberry, but the result is not as clear and nice as in the standard browser. However it is nice to have another option because the Blackberry browser tends to crash from time to time and won’t load some web page or another.

Bolt B7rowser lets you subscribe to feeds, save bookmarks, history, define the quality of images, download stuff etc…

There are still very few games available for the Blackberry Storm, but they are slowly coming and everyday there is a new one. Here is a very cool game called ”Solytare” which is a regular card game solitaire like the one that comes on almost all Windows PCs. This is a great game and is fully compatible with the BB Storm.
